Pet CPR Certification

Congratulations to our following staff members in our commitment to continuing education:

  • Karoline Brewer – Owner and CEO
  • Robert Bauman – Flex Driver
  • Christopher Evans – Transportation Manager
  • Christopher Gradidge – Flex Driver

At Airpets International, we prioritize pet safety and health, so we do continuous education with all employees like: monthly staff training, an intense mentoring program, and regular skills assessments. By having our key managers and leaders trained in pet CPR, we ensure we always have a member of staff on duty who can perform emergency procedures.

What is Pet CPR?

Pet CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), just like human CPR, is a crucial life-saving technique for cats and dogs in emergency situations. Here’s a step-by-step guide based on the information gathered:

  1. Assessment: Check for responsiveness. Tap the pet gently and call its name.
  1. Breathing Check: Ensure the pet is not breathing. Look for chest movement and listen for breath sounds.
  1. Call for Help: If the pet is unresponsive, call for veterinary assistance or emergency services.
  1. Chest Compressions: For both dogs and cats, administer chest compressions at a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute. Press down about one-third to one-half of the chest width.
  1. Rescue Breaths: Provide rescue breaths by closing the pet’s mouth and breathing into its nose. Repeat the cycle of 30 chest compressions and 2 rescue breaths until the pet starts breathing on its own.
  1. Training Resources: Online platforms like the Red Cross offer pet CPR certification classes, covering essential techniques and guidelines for effective CPR.

Always consult professional veterinary services immediately after administering CPR.

Additionally, guidelines may vary, and it’s advisable to stay informed about the latest recommendations, such as those provided by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
